Silagra - Generic Sildenafil
Sildenafil and its effects in impotence treatment
Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is a very common scene: according to WHO, 52% of men worldwide are affected by this condition to a certain degree. It may be as mild as occasional failure to keep the erection until the end of the sexual act, or as severe as a full inability to achieve the hardness of the penis.
The oral drug for the treatment of male impotence became available in 1998, and it forever changed the way doctors and patients think of ED. From an embarrassing and poorly manageable condition, erectile deficit became an unpleasant but still treatable symptom.
Sildenafil was the first drug on the market designed to treat impotence, or rather its symptoms. One pill is taken sometime before the sexual event could restore the ability to achieve and maintain an erection of perfect hardness. But there was a significant downside to the blue diamond pill (Viagra has a diamond shape and a blue color): its price reached $70 per pill.
Even in the U.S., where people are used to steep drug prices, the cost of sildenafil has often been referred to as ridiculously extravagant. The solution for men with a budget to consider came from the Indian pharmaceutical industry – like it has so many times before for other drugs.
Silagra: top sildenafil pill from India
Silagra is a generic version of sildenafil. This trademark name belongs to a multinational pharmaceutical company with a well-established name in the international arena, Cipla Ltd.
What makes Silagra so special? The company that manufactures Silagra has been in business since 1935, and during almost 100 years of its existence, it managed to earn a reputation of an honest and charitable industry participant.
In India, the patenting approach is based on manufacturing, not formula. It allows the local pharmaceutical companies to participate in the production of the most popular drugs that cost dozens of dollars per pill in the U.S. for less than $1. Cheaper workforce and high-quality materials create a perfect mix for producing drugs that have great efficacy and safety as well as affordable cost.
All of the above considered, India has been the cradle of economical pharmaceutical solutions for the entire world for more than a century. The trend continues with much cheaper ED pills that become approved for production in India one after another. Silagra is a perfect example of this healthy tendency.
Silagra 100mg for maximal efficacy in ED
How much sildenafil is contained in one tablet of Silagra? Silagra contains sildenafil 100mg base, and this is the maximal recommended dose of the medicine. We remind you that sildenafil is a prescription medicine that should be used only when your doctor confirmed the diagnosis of ED in the course of physical examination at their office and approved the use of sildenafil.
It is unlikely that a full tablet of Silagra will be appointed to you by the prescriber in the initial stages of the treatment. A rule of thumb is that lower sildenafil doses are prescribed to beginners to make sure that the drug is well tolerated; half a tablet of Silagra, or 50mg, is what you will probably be told to start your treatment with. The study Sildenafil Citrate 100 Mg Starting Dose in Men With Erectile Dysfunction confirms that 100mg dose of sildenafil is more effective than lower-dose pills.
Never change the dose recommended by a healthcare provider without their approval. Dose adjustment might be needed in the following cases:
- Your side effects are too intense, bothersome or persistent;
- Your health effects are underwhelming.
Silagra definition, uses, and advantages
Silagra (sildenafil) is a tablet that needs to be taken by mouth 60 minutes before sexual intercourse to restore erectile ability. Sildenafil is an inhibitor of PDE5 (an enzyme found in the corpora cavernosa of the penis). PDE5 is released after the ejaculation to help the penis return to its relaxed state. In healthy men, PDE5 is naturally blocked by the penile chemistry during sexual arousal. However, in men with ED PDE5 inhibition does not happen.
Sildenafil is taken before sexual activity blocks PDE5, releasing nitric oxide through its precursor cGMP. This process sounds – and is! – rather complicated, but what happens, in reality, is that this complex organic chemistry process makes the blood vessels of the penis elastic, they can dilate and entrap the right amount of blood required for the hardness of your penis.
This happens only when you are aroused, so the entire mechanism feels very natural. The use of Silagra can be very discreet if you wish to keep your erectile troubles secret from your partner(s).
Silagra: duration of therapeutic effects
Silagra remains active in your body for 4 hours, but according to the study pubilished in International Journal of Impotence Research. they can last up to 8 hours. While the medicine’s effects last, you will be able to achieve erection whenever you are sexually stimulated. But do not expect the drug to increase your sex drive; if you experience libido problems, you might need to look into your hormonal levels at a doctor’s office.
Silagra or Viagra: which is better?
Silagra and Viagra are essentially the same drug but produced by different manufacturers. Therefore, they have different names and they are not equal in their shape and color. Also, Viagra is available as tablets containing sildenafil 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg, while Silagra is only produced in the dose of sildenafil 100mg.
The therapeutic effects, health outcomes, mode of administration, side effects, contraindications, and pharmacological incompatibilities are similar for both drugs.
The price is dramatically different though. Being produced by the company that originally developed the formula of sildenafil, Viagra incorporates the cost of the molecule development in it. Silagra is based on the same formula but is not produced by the company that needs to make up for the money invested in the discovery.
Apart from containing sildenafil, both drugs contain additional ingredients that have no effects on the body but are only there to give the tablets their form and color. Those ingredients, called excipients, are different in Viagra and Silagra, but you as a user of the drug will not experience the difference. This is only true as long as you are not hypersensitive to one of the excipients; if you know that you have an allergy to some pharmaceutical substances, you should always check for the full list of ingredients for any drug you are going to use.
Viagra vs. Silagra: the safety information
Both Viagra and Silagra have side effects, as well as the list of contraindications and incompatibilities with other substances. Let’s have a closer look at those – the lists are identical for both medicines.
Side effects of sildenafil can manifest themselves as headache, stuffy or runny nose, flushing of the face, indigestion or diarrhea, and, sometimes, short-live alteration in the perception of colors. You will most likely see the end of those adverse reactions when the effects of the drug wear off, and not every patient will get them in the first place. However, if those side effects remain bothersome or intensify, talk to your prescriber about dialing down the dose recommended to you.
It is very uncommon for either Viagra or Silagra to cause serious side effects. To the list of alarming adverse reactions caused by sildenafil may be referred the following symptoms:
- pain in the chest, pain in the arm
- swelling of the lips, swelling of the face, swelling of the tongue
- confusion, syncope
- a painful or abnormally lasting erection (more than 4 hours)
- cardiac symptoms (palpitations, fluttering, irregular heartbeat)
- difficulty breathing
- loss of hearing in one or both ears
- loss of vision in one or both eyes
Immediately contact a healthcare provider you trust if any of the above-mentioned symptoms appear.
Do not take Viagra, Silagra or any other drug containing sildenafil if:
- you are allergic to any of the drugs’ ingredients, including excipients

- you have kidney disease
- you have liver disease

Note: Sildenafil and alcohol used together can cause an uncontrolled hypotensive episode (your blood pressure can go down sharply and dangerously). Be moderate in your alcohol consumption or abstain from having alcohol when using Silagra or Viagra.
Taking sildenafil alongside with grapefruit or grapefruit juice can increase the toxicity of the drug.
